In May 2010, Technology Credit Union Vice President of Real Estate Lending, Alvin Weaver, was in search of a convenient, streamlining loan origination system. That August, after weighing the pros and cons of different mortgage software providers, the San Jose, California-based credit union went live with Avista.
Has using Avista lead to improvements for your company? Yes, we now use 1 system vs. 3! We can now utilize E-disclosures for initial loan applications, Image E-documents from origination through funding, full integration with the closing forms document vendor.
How has Avista created efficiency, growth and optimism in your office? Operationally, it is a very easy system to utilize. Our underwriters have said that Avista is the best system out there for underwriting FHA loans. Our closing department went from using five systems to close a loan to only one; this was a huge gap we had in our company that was resolved by the change to Avista. Not only did it make the closing department more efficient, but it also cut back on potential errors that could occur given that the systems were not integrated.
Sometimes, credit unions have to use more than one system for underwriting and closing processes. How has Avista's system benefitted your company for those processes? Avista replaced a web application, LOS, underwriting, secondary marketing and imaging platforms.
How has Avista allowed you to give members better service? The Origination staff can offer loan decisions at POS. Loan Officers have Internet access to Avista to initiate loan applications and obtain automated underwriting decisions.
